Each piece of Indigo Berry handcrafted silver jewellery begins as silver clay, The clay is cut, textured and shaped, before drying and sanding. This part of the creative process may take several weeks. Eventually, once I am happy with the finish, the piece is ready for firing. In the kiln, the binder in the clay is burned away leaving sterling silver. This is then sent to Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking.
